A group of scientists and engineers at Queen’s University Belfast recently published a paper in Nature Scientific Reports Journal about a novel, eco-friendly synthesis of mesoporous γ-Al2O3 from Al foil with surface and bulk characteristics better than commercial γ-Al2O3 in term of surface structure (morphology, surface area and pore volume) along with the surface acidity
This paper will open doors for the preparation of highly active and well-structured alumina catalysts and supports from waste and demonstrate its application in acid catalysed reactions which are of great interest for the majority of researchers in heterogeneous catalysis.
